this German ground forces issued watch is powered by the hand wound Zenith caliber 12-4-P-6. sub second, 15 jewels, 44 hours power reserve, Breguet overcoil. Made in 1942 by zenith. the assignment on the case back, enclosed between the letters D and H, initials for “Dienstuhr Heer” (Army service watch).

I acquired this watch from an estate sale of a deceased watchmaker in northern Minnesota. I believe this watch was taken as a souvenir by a US serviceman from a dead nazi’s wrist. If only these watches could talk.
